Nessy Literacy Programme

We will be introducing the Nessy Literacy Programme to learners in the upcoming weeks at Dyce School as part of the Homework that we offer children, where devices are available at home, and as part of the classroom activities. The programme will be focused on reading and spelling, writing and developing typing skills too.

Please watch the video via the link below which shows the benefits of the Nessy Literacy Programme in the different areas:

Primary 1 children will not start to use Nessy Reading and Spelling for homework or in class until later in the session until they build up their initial spelling sounds and blends.

Primary 2 children will start to use Nessy Reading and Spelling to support and consolidate their knowledge of initial sounds and blends for homework and in class. For homework we would suggest 20 minutes per week and they will use it for 1 session per week in class.

Primary 3 to 7 children will be given access to Nessy Reading and Spelling, Writing Beach and Nessy Fingers as they are for children aged 7 and above. For homework we would suggest 30 minutes per week and they will use it for 1 session per week in P3 and P4 and for 2 sessions per week in P5 to 7.

We hope you will agree that this is a very worthwhile programme and it will be something that our learners will find engaging and motivating.

If you have any comments or questions please do not hesitate to leave a comment with this post or contact me via the school office.

Many thanks,
