Outdoor Estimation P3A

This week, we focused on estimation. Everyday we need to estimate. We might need to estimate how long it would take to walk somewhere or maybe the distance between two places in town. The activity we did helped us to learn how to estimate a number of objects. We grabbed one handful of stones and estimated about how many we thought we had. Then we counted the stones out to see if we were correct. Next we tried two handfuls at the same time, which was a bit trickier.

The very last thing we tried to estimate was the amount of steps it would take us to move from point A to point B. We chose any two spots in the room and estimated how many steps it might take us to move from one to the other.

Estimation takes practise. The step estimation game can be played anywhere at anytime. Have a go!

This handful was estimated at 29 stones. It ended up being 27!
