Rights Respecting Pupil Groups

Good afternoon,

Welcome to the first blog of the Rights Respecting Schools Pupil Groups. We would like to share with you what we have achieved this term. First of all, we had to vote for our committee. Our main roles are chair and vice-chairperson and secretary and vice-secretary.

In the Blue Unit group, our first mission was to photograph the class charter of every class and check if each class had a copy of the UNCRC on display. Our second mission was to look at the Pathway to Gold which outlines how to achieve the three awards: Bronze, Silver and Gold. We have joined with the Red Unit group to discuss rights we have at school. Our challenge for term two is to think of a fundraising event for the Bronze Award. Our long-term goal this year is to work towards achieving Silver.

The Green Unit group have been learning more about rights and updating the posters around school where our rights are being respected. The group have covered as many rights as they can so look out for new posters at our water fountains, the dinner hall, the playground and the library. They have also taken photos of each group to update the noticeboard.

The Red Unit group have made a wonderful start to their Rights Respecting journey. The group toured the school and identified the key rights we have here in school The took photographs of themselves in different places and with the relevant article.

Our noticeboard in the main corridor has been updated with our mission map.

Some of the class charters from around school. They explain the rights we have and how we respect them. Our class charters stay on the display all year as we have these rights all the time.

The Red Unit group exploring what our rights are and where we might notice them most in school.
