Busy Week in P1A!

* Long post alert! *

This week in P1A, we have been very busy and couldn’t decide which photos we wanted to upload to the website. Instead, we decided to show you our best bits from different areas of learning!

This week, we were practising our blending to make words. We did this through a game on the board, then we played a game of real-life Alphablocks, by combining sounds together to make a word! We had to decide if our sound was in the word Miss Edwards was saying, then join together to make the word. Our classmates were the judges, and told us if we were correct.

Maths: Money

P1A are very excited to announce the opening of their new shop! We are taking turns to be the shopkeeper, and waiting our turn in line to pay for items we have chosen. We are getting quicker at recognising coins and counting our money to make sure we have the right amount. Our shopkeepers are kept busy with long queues!

Maths: 3D shape

In pairs, we were investigating our 3D shapes to revise the names, and to find out more about them. We found out if they rolled or stacked, and if they were flat or round. We found out lots about the properties of shapes through this activity.

Health and Wellbeing

We made a healthy snack – a fruit kebab! We remembered we had to wash our hands before this activity, then helped to chop some of the fruit. We chose fruit to go on our skewer in groups, while the rest of the class were reading the names of different fruits and colouring them in. We then wrote about our fruit kebabs and, of course, enjoyed eating them afterwards!

Phew, what a week! Enjoy your well-deserved weekend, P1A!
